Group 4: Sciences

Computer Science

Computational thinking, programming, and system design - from algorithms to the architecture of modern computing.

All subjects

Course overview

Computer Science develops computational thinking and practical programming skill. Students learn how computers and networks work, how to design and build software, and how computing shapes society.

What you will study

  • Computational thinking and problem-solving: algorithms and program design.
  • Programming: fundamentals through to object-oriented design.
  • Computer organisation and architecture.
  • Networks and the internet.
  • Databases and abstract data structures (extended at HL).

Built by students

The site you are reading was designed and built by IB students at Česká. Web development is one of the skills the course teaches, and a project like this one is the kind of work the Internal Assessment asks for: a real problem, a working solution, and code you can explain.
