What we did

Ahead of the winter holidays, IB students ran a two-week food and clothing collection for a local Bratislava shelter. We set up donation points across the school, sorted and packed everything by category, and delivered it in person. In total we gathered over 200 kg of donations, including non-perishable food, warm clothing, and blankets.

Reflection

Planning the collection made us think about the people receiving the donations. The shelter asked specifically for warm socks and tinned protein, which reshaped how we promoted the drive (LO6). Sorting 200 kg of donations by hand was a reminder that service is often unglamorous work (LO1).

Working as a team across both year groups, we divided into promotion, logistics, and delivery, and trusted each other to deliver (LO5). The visit to the shelter itself was the moment that stayed with us: a direct encounter with an issue of real local significance.
