What we did

A team of IB students wrote, staged, and performed an original one-act play inspired by Theory of Knowledge themes, in particular the question of how memory shapes what we accept as true. We developed the script collaboratively over several weeks, designed a minimal set, rehearsed, and performed two evening shows for students, families, and staff.

Reflection

Building a play from nothing was far harder than performing an existing one. Early drafts collapsed under their own ambition, and learning to cut scenes we were attached to was a lesson in committing to the work rather than to our egos (LO4).

Stepping on stage exposed strengths and weaknesses I hadn't anticipated. I was a stronger writer than performer, and learning to lean on castmates who were the opposite made the production better (LO1). Connecting the story to TOK gave the creativity genuine substance: the play argued something, and audiences left debating it.
