League Against Cancer certificate of thanks for Daffodil Day 2026

Daffodil Day 2026 - thank you for your support

As part of their CAS project, two IB students took the lead in organising our school's participation in Daffodil Day (Deň narcisov), Slovakia's nationwide fundraising campaign organised by the League Against Cancer. They managed all aspects of the project, including communication with the organisation, volunteer coordination, promotion of the event, and fundraising efforts both within the school and in the local community.

Working together with fellow IB students and other volunteers, they helped raise €1,637.36 in support of the League Against Cancer. This contribution will help fund services and programmes that provide assistance to cancer patients and their families across Slovakia.

We would like to thank everyone who donated, volunteered, and supported this initiative. Their generosity and commitment helped turn a student-led project into a meaningful contribution to an important cause. 💛🌼

A whole-strand project

Though logged here under Service, Daffodil Day touched all three CAS strands. The two student leads planned and managed the campaign from scratch (Activity - initiative and sustained effort), designed promotion and outreach materials (Creativity), and the whole effort served a cause of real significance beyond the school (Service).

Reflection

The hardest part was coordination: aligning the League's timeline with the school calendar, briefing volunteers, and keeping momentum across two weeks (LO3, LO5). Standing in the community asking strangers to donate was uncomfortable at first, and learning to do it well was a genuinely new skill (LO2). Seeing a concrete figure - €1,637.36 - raised for cancer patients made the abstract idea of "service" feel real, and pushed us to think carefully about why and how we ask people to give (LO6, LO7).
